Barry Lyndon

I know, I'm not actually at Limerick yet, but I decided there's a few things I want to say before I get there, so deal with it.

In my Stanley Kubrick class we just watched the film Barry Lyndon. What does Kubrick and his movies have to do with Ireland? you ask. Well, Barry Lyndon (the main character, if you couldn't figure that out) is Irish. I think I liked the film a lot more just because of that (otherwise, it was 3.5 hrs and very slow). The accent was fake, but it sounded good, and I was impressed with myself for understanding most of what he said. (Side note: A French character in the movie said "Je suis fatigue," and I totally knew what he said! (That's 1 of the 3 French phrases I know.)

I'm still really worried about understanding a real accent, so I think I'm going to find clips on youtube or something of Irish people speaking (or just Colin Farrell interviews) to practice. :)
